Hi All,
I’m home now, and home is a new place we got in East Boston. It is gorgeous here, we live right on the waterfront across from seaport on Boston Harbor. It’s been fun being out of hospitals and nursing homes and being home, this is a great place.
I’ve started to get back to doing some work with CLAE along with my serious therapy. In therapy I am doing Physical therapy, learning how to walk again and get around the house and my surroundings. My Occupational therapy is focusing on getting my arm to work again and living independently. I also have Speech therapy, which involves lots of exercises concerning the ability to talk and the ability to improve my cognition. Most of my time is still spent on therapy, and starting in about a week I will begin outpatient therapy at Braintree Rehab Hospital.
As a result of this Fund I have been able to hire the people I need to be able to live here. I have two Personal Care Attendants who spend 50-60 hours a week with me. This has been a tremendous help to me and allowed Care and Caitlin to do their work as well.
For those of you who haven’t been able to come and see where we live yet we would love to have you visit! There is a gorgeous park at the end of the street where some of the pictures we just posted were taken.
I’ve started using the computer again, so will try to post more frequently. Thanks for all of your support, it means a lot to me and is what allows me to be at home and not in an institution. Looking forward to a fun summer on the water.
Thanks!!
Ross

Ross,
I am so glad to hear you are home and that you are firmly on the road to recovery. My thoughts are with you and your family as you continue on your journey. I wish you good health and much happiness.
Hugs,
Ilenia
Hi Ross,
I am so SO glad to see you doing well. I think of you and your family often!
Continue your hard work and positive attitude. You can do anything you put your mind to. I’m so proud of you!
Love,
Lauren (RN at Spaulding)
Oh my god, Ross! I am so happy to hear how well you’ve been doing! I was your CNA for a majority of your stay at Spaulding and you were doing better and better as the time passed. I hope all continues to go well! We love you and are so impressed by your progress!
Hi All!
Ross and I just wanted to hi and tell you that things are going well. Ross is now at a Community Therapy Program in Lynnfield, MA which is part of the Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital network. He is really enjoying the rehab work there and they are pushing him hard. He is learning how to use the computer again albeit slowly, and continues learning new methods for his “Activities of Daily Living” (ADLs). (and I’m learning the new language of therapy!)
They have a new Physical Therapist who has been working hard to get Ross to do stairs and step over objects. He struggles to do the work but never quits! We’ve been having a bit of a struggle with health care but are still able to get most of his therapy covered.
I want to thank all of you for your help with the fund. As we near the end of the healthcare coverage for Ross’s therapy we will be relying on the fund in order to keep Ross improving. We’ll keep you updated and let you know how it’s all going!
This winter has been particularly bad with the snow which makes it hard for Ross to get outside and practice is various therapies there. He continues to walk around in the house but we can’t wait for the warm weather so we can go down to the pier again! We have been supported through the cold with great visits from friends and family which has been wonderful. Guests are always welcome!
So thanks again to everyone and have a safe rest of the winter! At least the groundhog did not see it’s shadow so hoping for an early spring!
Stay well!
Ross and Care
